Magpie

This magpie has been sitting in a cherry tree the entire day outside my window. Maybe he also is tired of the snow that has fallen for two days now?

Usually I don’t like birds at all, why I don’t really know, but I’m kind of scared of big birds. But today I sympathize with this magpie, he seems unhappy.

Looking forward to a peaceful weekend when last was a bit hectic. I think I will do nothing! That’s quiet great to.

Today I bought some new teacups, my friend Kaisa has made them. She is doing so many nice things in ceramic. I particular likes the bowls she makes and of course I like the cups to.

At Ikea a bought some fabric to sew new kitchen curtains of. It was very chip, only 19 Skr/mete r so I couldn’t resist buying it. Most fun was that it already was in panel length so I only had to hem them. And the pattern is so nice I think it’s a flower or a fruit in cross-section. I bought one meter extra so I can sew something more, like a bag or so.

It’s been a hectic weekend, Saturday I took my car and drove to Sundsvall, about 250 kilometres, to a friends that did turn 30 and her party. Before I went to the party I did some shopping at IKEA and then I drove home Sunday…

Enough about that, what this post will be about is my present to Nina.

I made here a Krymburk, a shrink can, with a bird, tulip and a heart on it. Nina is also a craft teacher, though in textile, so it’s easy to give here something that I have made myself, I know before that she will appreciate it. She knows how much time it takes doing something like this. I tried to make here something that will fit here home and style. I think I succeeded. She was very happy about it!

I also made here a card with an old house, here house almost looks like that, and I also added the text about the house to the card. I found it in an old book I have, so I just cut it out and glued it to some old cool paper, then I printed the text and after that I sew it together on the sewing machine. I’m satisfied with the result, bought on the can and the card!

Me and Linus, my nephew, had some fun yesterday, we played with sticky notes. He loves birdies, always saying “pippi” (birdie) when his out and at home my sister has a decoration that is a bird and that bird Linus likes a lot to.

So yesterday I draw some really simple bird heads on sticky notes and then Linus placed them at my screen. It was such an easy thing to do. And kept him busy for almost 10 minutes I think. Replace them, sad pippi, and looked like his had really fun!

Hanna challenged anyone to write a list of things that inspires. She had 52 things in here list…

I don’t know if I will list 52 things now, but I start and see what’s happens. I have however realized that many things that inspire me are the same that Hanna wrote about but I haven’t copy here. It’s just normal that same things being an inspiration for everyone who see something, though we probably get different things out of seeing or experience it. So here we go!

1. Creative friends, what a joy!
2. Children
3. Trees, special the really big ones, like oaks
4. Books and book stores
5. Colours
6. Learning new things
7. Listen to Music
8. Many of the blogs that I read frequently
9. Some of my youngest pupils in school because of there curiosity
10. Movies
11. An old lady with a poodle that I use to see, she inspires be to get old, she is so beautiful! (Hanna knows who I mean.)
12. Environments like Sätergläntan, pure joy!
13. To see things true the camera
14. Pencils and papers
15. Yarn and patterns to knit or crochet with
16. Fabrics
17. Concerts like this with Kalle & Laleh
18. Old people and there stories of life
19. Magazines
20. Niklas, an old classmate from my time at the university, I don’t see him anymore, but just to think of his creative gift and skill makes me think in different ways.
21. Life and what it brings
22. This antique shop
23. An old teacher I once had, Gunnar he is my model for how a teacher should be. It’s inspirited to think of him.
24. Furniture design and particular things from the 50’s at the moment
25. Annelito I really love her style on the things she makes and her great photos
26. Johanna Nilsson, a great Swedish author
27. The ocean
28. Hemslöjden, a magazine about handicraft that I have subscribed for 5 years or so now.
29. Knifes, inspires me to carve
30. Surolle and his handicraft
31. Old houses, I love them all!
32. To drive my car, I’m always thinks good when I’m out driving.
33. Walking in the nature without a goal.
34. Syjuntan, nice to create among others
35. Textile print
36. To watch photos of products that creative people has made, always gives me own ideas.
37. The book The Creative license by Danny Gregory
38. The believe in succeeding with my creations I make inspire me to try again if I failed the first time I tried.
39. Out of calmness come often my best products
40. Last but not least, my grandfather. If I would believe in angels, he would be the angel I would like to have on my shoulder, I often thinks “if morfar had seen me now”. I’m so said about I wasn’t able to share the happiness of creating with him. He was the greatest creator I have known. So just thinking of him makes me strong when I’m doing things.

For the moment I feel satisfied with 40 things that inspire me, probably it more like 40000 or so. But this was hard to get down on paper. And I think I take things for granted, that I get something out of seeing things and then I’m not thinking that, hey, now you were inspirited. Instead I just got the impression and store it in the brain until I need it.

I have had winter sport holiday this week and so far it has been really great. Everyday I have walked in the sun even if it was some cold days in the beginning of the week. I also have read in books, threw away some junk and written things. Tried to work with the book The Creative license by Danny Gregory everyday to, what a book! I love it, just to watch all the pictures are an inspiration.

great book

And then I have listen to a lot of music, so nice! I have totally become addicted to this TV series, Grey’s Anatomy to.

I feel that I have gotten new energy so I think it will be 5 fairly easy weeks until I have next break, the Easter holiday. The holidays are a nice benefit with being a teacher.

This past weekend I went home to my parents and I had nothing to do. Lucky enough my mother has enormous storages with things to create with. So I found a green wool yarn as I think she has coloured herself ( läs: växtfärgat). And then I found a crochet hook and out of that came this scarf. Which I never can wear because I can’t stand it when its itch due to the wool. Maybe I can give it to someone?

Green crocheted scarf

But I became very fond of it so Monday I bought a cheap acrylic yarn so I won’t be itch my neck up. Probably I could have found a yarn in wool that maybe had worked but I became stingy. I got two balls of yarn for 40 sKr which I though was a good price. And then I made this black marbled scarf.

I really like crocheting because it’s done so fast and you only need yarn and a cook and then it can be anything, anywhere. What a joy!

When I went in upper level of compulsory school we had the library in the same building, which was great. Often a school has a school library but we had grubbebibblan (which is a branch of the central library). Of course we went there to borrow books but also to read magazines and sometimes to play a part of chess.

Armchairs at grubbebibblan

But this two armchairs who used to be a light blue sofa for two was most of the time what lead use there. Just so we could get some peace and not think about school for a while. The sofa was in one way funny, because the sides could be turned a side. It’s hard to explain but I promise it was kind of cool.

Sometimes only two persons where sitting there, but most of the time it was at least three. Worse was if only one person where sitting there and none of use (my friends) know that person. It happened often and was not fun. Then we used to circulate some round the bookcases and if that didn’t help we had to take a place by a table instead and wait.

So tonight when I went there to leave some books that I had borrowed I took a picture of the armchairs while I was thinking of that old sofa. A sofa that has heard so many pupils talked and gossip and also stand all other things and stuff that young people do in a sofa.

Last syjunta I started to cut out Bulan, a blue I don’t really know what. Maybe he is a Moose, maybe not. In any case he is really cute and soft.

Bulan

I sew together the parts on my sewing machine and then stuffed them. After that I sewed by hand the arms and legs to the body. And last he got his heart and eyes. I did the sewing while I was watching Swedens Ice-hockey team, Tre Kronor, take the gold medal in the Olympics. Exciting!

Heart Bulan

I’m satisfied with the result and I think I will give him to my nephew, Linus.
