I have been a bit lazy when it’s comes to update the blog. But that don’t mean I haven’t done anything creative. The entire weekend I had my sewing machine at my kitchen table and sew a lot of things.

At first I did some curtains of this fabric to my cousin, she got it as a birthday present from my family and the lot was on me for making them to here. I had Easter holiday and my mother worked, in other words I had no excuse for not making them.

I became a bit nervous when she picked the fabric when we were shopping. But it was fairly easy to work with so it didn’t take so much time.

After that I started to make some vests to myself. This is the only one I finished yet. It’s yellow and dark blue. I just draw a pattern from another one I like and then I made this. I have started on one with big stripes in red and dark blue to. Which I think will be finished tomorrow.

I also made a little t-shirt for my nephew Linus in the yellow/dark blue fabric. Have to try it on first before I show some pictures of it.

And on Tuesday at syjuntan I started to knit on this bag with a skull on that I found one day at flickr. I’m ready to start with the skull now. It will be fun to see this bag take form.

The Easter days came and went fast this year. I have spent them by working most the time, at konsum (a grocery shop), which is my old summer work that I have kept for seven years or so. And now I only work when I think I have time for it or want to earn some extra money. And this week I have Easter holiday and I wish for good weather and some creative ideas!

I have had time to watch some spring signs despite the work

Yesterday Hanna had a party because she turns 30 this month and I was lucky and received an invitation. Therefore I took my presents and went to Hanna’s place and had a great time!

What was inside then? The big parcel was some really nice papers I bought at a local shop which is a pure joy to shop in, Sandbergs pappershandel. They don’t have a homepage I think. The smaller parcel contained a krympburk / shrinkcan I made to her and on top a pink card that I also made.

Hanna loves roses so what was better than a present containing something with roses on. Therefore I carved tree roses and painted them yellow, pink and red on the shrinkcan. The lid I first carved to a sharp form and then placed some horsehair in the top as a decoration and to give the can a bit more personality. The choice of painting the can white was easy, the roses together with the horsehair was the things I wonted to dominate therefore the white colour. For more pictures watch my woodwork set on flickr.

I found a picture of a turtle in a paper and of that I made a pink card. I thought the turtle was a good metaphor for becoming older and a wish of a long life or something like that. Also used some vellum paper which I wrote on, my handwriting isn’t the best so I hade to practise before it turned out like I wished. I had some pink parcel string that I cut in tree different length and last I sew it all together on the sewing machine.

And probably this was my last 30 years party for 2006, I went on my first for some weeks ago. Next year I know at least 4 persons that will be 30 so if I’m lucky…

Earlier I have written about a Candle flame shawl that I had start to knit and then I found another yarn and had to take a brake with the first on. Now I finally have managed to finish that to. It turned out like this.

It took some time because I use so thin needles, but at the same time I really satisfied with the result though it took time. The first one I finished I made with bigger needles and it became airy and lighter and this a bit heavier and firm. I think this shawl will be great on a cold winter day, drinking a cup of tea and reading a good book.

I use a yarn which is from Järbo garn and it is 100% acryl. I first bought it to make gloves, which I also did, about 3 pairs I think. But I somehow bought too much yarn, it was cheap and then I lost my mind and bought two ball of yarn. So when I found the pattern I thought it was a good idea to first make a test and see if I was able to knit the shawl. So now I have used it to something instead of just have it in some drawer, feels good!

If you know your Beatles you know that the headline almost is a title from one of there songs, it should be “With a little help from my friend”. Anyhow, today I help an old friend of mine with her motorcycle. For three years she was driving round in India and when she came home this winter she hade ship the bike home to Sweden. So the mission today was to get the bike of the loading pallet and also to put on the front wheel.

Tess and her motorcycle

It was a bit heavy or maybe we were too weak… anyhow we made it! The motorcycle is now of the loading pallet and the front wheel on right place! It took some time, thinking and work to get it right. But after all it turned out as we had wish for. And I’m glad that I could help her. Probably I will feel that I’m alive tomorrow, with a back that hurts after all the heavy lifts. But it’s worth it!

We made it!
