I’m one year older now then when I woke up yesterday morning. It’s funny, this we call time. One year is, many days of work, many days of creating stuff, some rather boring days and then quit many days of playing with my nephew. To mention how I spend some of my time.

Yesterday I invited some of my friends and family to a fika to celebrate my birthday. I received some birthday presents, which always is nice! I love presents! But most important people I like came and celebrated with me. But of course I forgotten to take photos, or, I took some, but they aren’t much to look at. Al though some days is quit good to remember without photos. I can some times feel that I tend to forget about what I did when I have taken many pictures. And other times it’s so great that I took all that photos, because without them I had forgotten just that day, because it was one of many ordinary days.

Hanna made this to me, skulls! Love them! And among others I received one really nice folder for recipes and some tools.

One other good thing with having fika was that I found my old bookmark that my grandmother gave to me as a child, once it belonged to here. Found it with my silver spoons that I hardly use. There in the case it was, my Hans and Greta bookmark. As I have looked for it everywhere!

On my way home from the corse at Sätergläntan I pass through a little village named Hedvigsfors in the province of Hälsingland, there a big white house stands almost all by itself in the woods. Ingalunda is a house full of ceramic things and there is also an art park with some really nice things. It was the second time I visit Ingalunda. But this time was more of a chance because I changed my mind on the way home and took another way then I first had thought of. So when it just showed up there in the woods I couldn’t resist to stop and go inside. I came out a little bit poorer then when I went in. I couldn’t resist the temptation to buy a ceramic flower that was so nice. Haven’t found a good place to put it get, but I will!

One girl

I made this collage to participant in the inspire me Thursday challenge about numeral art but I forgotten about it because it’s summer and I’m out a lot but most because my parents that I visit only has a modem, and it drives me crazy when I’m surfing the net. So instead I don’t use the computer… which maybe is a good thing for me, someone who tend to use it to much.

Anyway, this numeral collage is about me having a birthday on Thursday this week, becoming one year older. It’s very pink and a lot of flowers which is a funny thing, because I’m not a big fan of the colour pink and not so good on taking care of my flower either. But it’s a lot of numbers and the clock is representing time, and what is time if not numbers. I feel happy looking at it. Because I think I have made something untypical for me, and that’s a good thing!

And the picture of that little girl is me, for about 23 years ago I think. But now I printed it out on paper and then colour the dress pink as it was back then. And I have written that I’m closer to 30 now then 20. And that I have grown out of that pink dress and that the days that only was playing now is over. I have to work, earn money and pay my bills and that kind of adult boring stuff that we all have to do just to survive in this thing called life!!

These two last weekends I have work a lot with my wood projects, and when I say a lot I mean a lot! One of the days I started to work after I had eaten lunch and didn’t stop working until I had to go to sleep because I became so tired. Think I worked 8 hours, only took some breaks to eat and drink. I can say that my hands ached when I woke up the next morning.

Have been working on one present and then I made some other things to. One ladle, some more garden decorations and one more spoon that split when I almost hade finished it. Really boring, but it happens sometimes. One thing you have to stand working with wood.

I am so happy about that I have taken the time to work with a all this projects, it feels so great. When I’m working I don’t take the time to work with my wood projects because I almost always feel like I don’t have the time. Because when I start I like to work many hours. It’s easy with knitting for example, you could knit for 20 minutes with out problem but working with wood for 20 minutes doesn’t give so much. Have to take out all the tools, have the place to work with it and so on. So I’m happy about my decision to slöjda, do handicraft, as much as possible this summer. It started out good with the course on Sätergläntan and now after half my holiday I have worked many days already. Oh, happy days!

Photo friday challenge “Summer”

I haven’t been so creative this week because a friend has visited me. We have had some nice days. Went shopping one day, ate good food that we made together, went to the Umedalen Skulptur, a big out- and indoor exhibition. One really great exhibition I think, it’s so nice that Umeå has this kind of things even if Umeå isn’t such a big city.

But most of the time we just relaxed and talked, J has lived in this city for 5 years, so we could skip all the tourist things.

I went out and cut down one birch one day with the purpose to make some krympburkar, shrink-cans. Found a birch that was growing under one pine so one day or another had my mom and dad been forced to cut down it in any case.

So therefore I cut it down and took of all the branches and then I cut of the smallest part of the tree because that isn’t so much wood to work with. I also looked to see if there was some wood that had been crooked because that’s nice to have and make spoons of. I found two crooked parts. None of them was so interesting, but they will be ok to at least make two spoons just for fun.

After I threw away the branches I started to make the cans. First I used the drawknife to remove the birch bark and to make some edges on them. After that I drilled with the navare, (don’t know the English word for that kind of drill,) a hole through the stem and after that I used the knife to carve out some material so I could make the bottom of the can.

I didn’t take so many pictures I noticed after I was finished. I tend to forget the time when I start to work with these kinds of things. Because it’s so great to work and then taking photos I forget about. But now it had been nice to have more of them to illustrate how I made the cans. I will do more of them, and then I will try to take more pictures and update.

shrinkcans

This is some of the cans I made and the picture deceives the eye, they look bigger then they are. I think the biggest of them isn’t more than 9 cm high. I made four small ones and four bigger ones. Think these ones became very cute. But I will make more of the bigger ones, they are better to work with when it comes to the decoration.

In Leksand there is a big house, Lop-nor, where it is a loppis, flea market, and I went there one day with J and made some finds. Of course I did see a lot of things to that I had wanted but wasn’t willing to pay for because many of the things was too expensive for its condition I thought. But I made some purchases that I feel happy about. Two shuttles for my little collection of old textile equipments. One book, Våra visor, a songbook, bought it most because of the nice illustrations. And then I found some old pictures of children I will try to use in my collages that I will make some time… And one thing that was funny about the pictures was that three of them were from Umeå, my hometown, something I didn’t notice until I came home and took a closer look at them.

loppis fynd!

Ah, it’s nice that I have started to like loppisar, haven’t done that earlier. I think its Hannas fault… or fault is the wrong word, it’s thanks to Hanna I have started to like shopping at flea markets! Thanks!

On Sätergläntan they have a really great handicraft store and when I went the course I bought some really, really beautiful yarn from färgkraft. Svartalv and Trollskog so now are my winter knitting saved! I think I will do one shawl and then try to knit a Möbius shawl like Hanna did. Think I will use Svartalv for the Möbius and Trollskog for a more normal shawl. I’m looking forward to start knitting in this wool yarn, but I will wait until the autumn at least. I have too many wood projects going on right now to get some time to knit. But it’s nice to dream about it!

Took this picture in the store, it’s a nice light crown and the light was so nice in the store when I took this. I’m really pleased with the result of the picture.
