Yesterday some CDs arrived in the mail because I made an order Sunday. One of my favourite artists has released a new record. These friends of mine by Rosie Thomas, I have not even listen to the whole CD yet, I have it in the player now and listen as I write this.
One thing strikes me when I see the CD and that is that a cover can be like an art piece itself. Many records have some kind of photo or photo collage on the cover, which also are a kind of art. But some of the records I have by Rosie Thomas are painted or sketched things. I really like the paper plan and the dress. The one that looks like an oil painting I don’t like that much, it’s something with the face and the green colour that I don’t really appreciate as much as the others. The pink photo collage is just great. And the new CD that made me start think I also finds really nice.
I have been to quiet many concerts, smaller once and bigger once, I once saw Robbie Williams at Stadion in Stockholm it was like 27000 people or something. But I think that one of the greatest concerts I have been to was the one with Rosie Thomas. She and Damien Jurado played at a really small place here in town. I guess that it was about 200 persons there. It’s a tiny place. When I saw the wall chart that Rosie was coming to town I thought that I saw a vision, because I had just found here music and loved it from the start. So it became unreal that she was coming to Sweden, she’s from the US, and to my hometown which isn’t the biggest town.
Its four years or something like that since I went on that concert now. But I still think of it when I listen to the records. How happy I became when I saw the wall chart and that Rosie talked a lot about a bathtub on here hotel room and Damien Jurado talked about the Swedish post office. Yes, the Swedish post office is big joke; I don’t really know what has happened to it. But he said something fun, what I have forgotten now.
Anyhow, I think I have lost my thought a bit, covers and art was what I started to think of, and it ended up in a concert in September 2003… I could only have written this: I love Rosie Thomas music, I love the covers on here CDs, I love going to concerts. And all off that is art.
I love art!
